Cirque du Freak by Darren Shan

Cirque du Freak is a series written by Darren Shan. If you like stories about blood, vampires, poisonous spiders, or the supernatural, you will enjoy these low-key horror stories. They are similar to R. L. Stine’s Goosebumps books. This series is fast paced and thrilling for even the most reluctant readers. They are not for the faint of heart. Mar. Shan has been fascinated with vampires most of his life and has already written about ten books in the series. It was originally published in England and will probably be in great demand. Movie rights have already been purchased. Ages 9-12

My Lucky Day by Keiko Kasza

A tasty-looking piglet mistakenly knocks on Mr. Fox’s door. Mr. Fox is surprised but very pleased to see his “dinner” arrive at his doorstep. He quickly starts preparing to cook the piglet, but the piglet is a quick thinker. The facial expressions are wonderful. This is a witty and humorous and well-paced story that keeps you guessing until the surprise ending. Keiko Kasza has written other delightful books such as Mr. Wolf’s Chicken Stew and Don’t Laugh Joe. Ages 4-8
