WEBSITE INSTRUCTIONS - REQUEST A HOLD Request a Hold on a Title Online Patrons can place hold requests for all circulating titles at Putnam County Library. A circulating title includes books, audiobooks (books on cd or tape), & cd's. A patron who wishes to place a hold must be a registered Putnam County Library patron and must know the assigned Patron ID (Library Card Number) and PIN. Note: If you do not have a PIN call 931-526-2416 or email tech@pclibrary.org - Your PIN can be up to 8 characters long. We recommend using the last 4 digits of your phone number. To place a hold, access our online catalog at www.pclibrary.org and enter a catalog search. The search result page will be displayed as follows: The above is an example of a search result list of near and exact title "hits". Now click the Title / Author link to get the full description. The description page with the blue background (below) has the Hold Request button. Note: If we only have one title "hit" for your search, the system will take you directly to the description page. Click the Hold Request Button. Enter your Library Card number, press Tab, and enter the PIN (see example below). You may also select the branch where you wish to pick up the item by clicking the down arrow next to the Pickup Branch box. If you want to pick up the item from your home branch, simply click the Submit Request button. If the Library Card number or PIN is not correct, a message similar to this will be displayed: Your hold request failed for the following reason(s): The Patron ID number or PIN is not valid. For more information, check the registration information with library Circulation staff. You may email tech@pclibrary.org or call 931-526-2416. If the hold request was successful, the following message will be displayed: Your hold has been approved for: Author ......... Title ......... When the requested item is available, a library staff member will contact you.
