Lisey's
Story / Stephen King

As a huge fan of King’s “On Writing”
and “The Green Mile,” I was somewhat disappointed
with his latest offering. “Lisey’s Story” is
about a fifty-something widow coping with the untimely death of
her extraordinarily famous writer husband. While parts of the
novel are moving and memorable, when King lapses into the surreal,
I lose enthusiasm (my fault, no doubt—he IS, after all,
a horror writer). For those who have never read Stephen King,
this novel is probably not the way to get your feet wet. Try “Delores
Claiborne” or “The Girl Who Loved Tom Gordon”
instead.
